Brownlee Triathlon 2019 Report
What a fantastic day, taking 60 of our wonderful year five children (and a couple of lucky year fours) to John Smeaton Leisure centre, to participate in the annual Brownlee Triathlon.
All children had the opportunity to swim 50m, cycle almost a kilometre and sprint home the 300m to the finish line. From start to finish, every single child gritted their teeth and worked hard together to complete the three disciplines and watching their faces as they crossed the finish line will be a memory I will never forget.
Standout moments include Hibba losing her way on the running track and being so focussed on finishing that she cut the last 100m off and walked to the finish before being shown the way by an ever observant Miss Lowe. The moment Abdullahi made it to the last straight and was ready to put his foot down and sprint towards his medal, before spotting his friend needed a little support and helping him over the line, made me remember the Brownlee brothers’ moment where the same thing happened!
A true selfless act and a worthy winner of this week’s fair play award in school. Well done to all those who took part and thanks to all the staff, volunteers and organisers for another fantastic event. Bring on 2020!
