|
| To achieve our educational aims, we provide a curriculum which develops the whole child physically, socially, intellectually and emotionally. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum which takes into account the individuality and uniqueness of each child in terms of their personality, characteristics, qualities, abilities and needs.
As agreed by our governors, children have to follow a National Curriculum consisting of three core subjects: Literacy, Numeracy and Science; and seven foundation subjects - Design & Technology, Information and Communication Technology, History, Geography, Art & Design, Music, Physical Education, Personal Social Health Education & Citizenship, plus Religious Education. Our work is carefully planned, ensuring that all the children are given full access to the National Curriculum. During our Literacy time, we follow a programme called S.F.A. (Success for All), which is designed to combine reading and phonics teaching with co-operative learning strategies. The children are grouped according to ability an the work is differentiated and very focused. The scheme also involves a Family Support Group to make sure that no children fall behind their group. Children learn through practical work, discussion, questioning, co-operating, listening, watching and researching. Lessons may include visits to appropriate places, visitors coming to school and the use of different resources such as the Museum and the School Library Service. Together anything is possible |
