Balloons... up, up and away!

Over 1500 balloons were released on the School Campus to celebrate the opening of the new school. Every child and member of staff released a balloon with a tag on.

"It was funny because people were just letting go of their balloons and everyone was laughing and shouting. The balloons would float off and children would be jumping up and trying to catch them."
Bilal, Year 6

Balloons go up into the sky."It was really good seeing hundreds of balloons all going off together. It looked like one big white bundle floating into the distance like a giant cloud breaking up as it went."
Amy, Year 6

"I liked seeing the balloons go up into the sky and become part of the clouds."
Samuel, Year 4

"Everyone was screaming because they were so happy to release the balloons. Malvina let go of her balloon just before the bell went and she tried to take my balloon, and everyone was laughing and having fun."
Julie, Year 6

"It was really good because I hadn't done anything like that before. Even though it was raining, everyone just blanked it out and had lots of fun."
Jordan, Year 6

"Mr Gorton told us that the balloons had been seen bouncing along Meanwood Road by someone driving a car. The heavy rain had forced the balloons down. Laila saw a balloon in Little London, but I hope they get as far as Big London!"
Olly, Year 4

The children or staff whose balloons have travelled the furthest will win a prize, so if you find a balloon with a tag please send it back to us!
