My first day at my brand new school.

Children under the new canopies.
"We have wonderful new canopies!"
My first day back at school ...My first day at a brand new school.

My old school has been knocked down and on the
same site a new one has been built.

...Find out how I felt going back
and what my new school is like below.

Over the summer I could see loads of builders working on machines and diggers trying to finish the school and make it ready for me to go in for my first day. We had two weeks extra holiday, but eventually it came to an end and school was re-opened!

When I walked through the school gates I felt nervous, but then I saw all of my friends and I felt a bit better.

I could see the bright red, blue, yellow and green walls of the new school. It looked like a painting by Mondrian.

Children jumping outside the new school. My teacher, Mrs Stanley, came and greeted us with a smile and took us to our new classroom. Inside the school, the corridor was like a huge whale's mouth that took us down an ocean of blue carpet.

We came upstairs and saw another huge corridor. As I walked down the corridor we passed classrooms of children excitedly looking around, and then we finally came to our classroom.

As we walked into the classroom, straightaway I saw the beautiful views out of the large, clean windows that go from one side of the classroom to the other, and also from the ceiling to the floor. Our parents left us to look around the rest of the school and Mrs Stanley talked to us about the golden rules and why the lights didn't work in our classroom!

Very soon it was time to go for school assembly. Mr Gorton, our headteacher, told us how smart we were and how pleased he was to see everyone in the school at last.

The day passed by really fast. The food at dinners was delicious and playtime was fun. Back in class everyone was happy and working very hard in their new school.

At the end of the day I was happy. We all saw our parents and went home. I like the new school. It is much better than I thought it would be.
