Read Around The World
A group of Year Six children have been chosen to be a part of the 'Read Around the World' crew. Every pupil received a reading passport, an invitation to Read and Feed breakfasts and, of course, a new book!
As a starter we discussed how reading can open so many doors. Firstly we thought about doors to our future. We tried to think of a carer or job that didn't require reading- you've guessed it- we couldn't think of ANY! Then we thought about how reading can open doors to places we've never been before.
The Read Around the World tasks include:
- Choosing a book from the special library shelf
- Visiting their individual Border Agent once a week to sign off their book and chat about what they’ve read
- Attend Read and Feed breakfasts on Wednesdays in Mr Gorton’s office
We hope that Border Agents will help all children find a genre or author that helps them fall even further in love with reading. If they manage to visit ten different places through their reading, they can order a book title of their choice. All fifteen of our Border Agents are very excited to hear about the first Read Around the World crew book choices and their first destinations!
