This Girl Can! ParkRun Success
It was a cold and wet Saturday morning but 13 of Shakespeare's 'This Girl Can Club' members met at Roundhay Park to take part in the 5k race.
Right from the outset there was a buzz in the air- it wasn't just the thunder! We gathered with the other runners and gave out the bar codes so we could all receive a time for our run. Parents joined in too and it was great to see our families running (and a small amount of walking) together. We ran together for a while before the competitive juices started flowing and some people pulled ahead.
Everyone finished the entire 5k course with times ranging from 25 minutes 22 seconds (congratulations Qetsia's dad!) to 44 minutes. Children and parents had to dig deep to finish and I'm pretty sure there will have been some aches and pains come Sunday morning but so worth it to feel the sense of achievement at the end.
A particular well done to the two children who stumbled yet got up and carried on despite sporting several grazes. That really is what 'This Girl Can' is all about. Same time next week girls?
