Year 3 go Greek at the Leeds City Museum
Year 3 have officially kicked off their new learning project “Gods and Mortals” with an exciting school trip to Leeds City Museum for an Ancient Greek Workshop!
After a long walk, we arrived to a lovely welcome from Sarah who took us into the beautiful museum. We were very excited to learn about Ancient Greece and t wasn’t long before we were impressing her with our knowledge of the Olympic Games and Greek myths. She then told us about warriors from Sparta and gave us our Greek team names, Pegasus, Zeus and Athena.
After this, we went upstairs to explore the Ancient Greek exhibition looking around for ancient artefacts and finding out about how the Ancient Greeks lived. We then presented what we had found to the rest of the class.
Upstairs, we had to be very careful not to touch anything but then Sarah took us back down to the workshop and showed us some amazing Ancient Greek artefacts that we could hold! We even made our own Greek coins which took a lot of hammering to make!
Everyone learned lots and all the teams got lots of points for their hard work but the eventual winner was Pegasus! Well done Year 3! Another wonderful trip.
