Year 6 Shakespeare Nativity Performance

Year 6 put on Shakespeare’s annual Christmas Nativity show at Bridge Community Church in Leeds (with the help our wonderful children in Year 4 and 5 who sang out every song from the audience!). With tinsel head pieces for the choir and festive spotlights around the stage, our incredible Year 6 children sang with confidence and in unison and acted out the various Nativity parts as they retold the Christmas Story – it truly was a magical spectacle!

With much practice in the weeks leading up to our performance, each child who stood on the stage sang and acted superbly. It was a joy to see our Year 6 children come together as a team and create an amazing show for the 400-strong audience (made up of parents, pupils and members of the public). This Nativity was particularly interactive as it required audience participation – much to the delight of our Year 4 and 5 children who joined in with gusto! As with any performance and show, there are always stand out moments and this show was no different. When the Year 6 choir (and all our Year 4 and 5 children) performed ‘Calypso Carol’ and ‘It Was on a Starry Night’ the sense of togetherness and unity shone through the performance – it really was beautiful.

Shakespeare has some incredible talent and these shows are wonderful ways to showcase the very best of our wonderful children. It is safe to say that if this is what Year 6 can do in December, then we are in for a real treat at the end of the academic year (July 2024) when they get to perform again; we can't wait to see what they will showcase. Well done, Year 6 – you were amazing!
