Spreading Smiles with the Axolotl of Random Kindness
Our Communication Team have been busy behind the scenes, quietly spreading kindness across the school in a very special way…
Over the past few weeks, children and staff may have noticed a small, smiling axolotl appearing in their trays or on their desks. Each one was left as a thoughtful surprise, with a message explaining that someone in the school had noticed them and thought they were great. The message made it clear that this was an act of kindness just for them – and encouraged them to secretly pass it on to someone else to keep the kindness going.

The team chose an axolotl as their mascot because of its gentle nature and permanent smile. Just like the axolotl, kindness doesn’t need to be big or loud to make a difference – even small actions can spread happiness and brighten someone’s day.
The big reveal came during a recent assembly, where the Communication Team introduced the Axolotl of Random Kindness to the whole school and let them know it had all started with them! The assembly was a great success, hosted by the children themselves- they even shared the story Be Kind with us, helping everyone reflect on the many simple ways we can show kindness every day. Children shared how special it felt to be noticed and appreciated, and also how rewarding it was to pass that feeling on to someone else.

Now, the project is growing even bigger as staff are armed with Axolotl of Random Kindness stickers to give out to children they spot being kind at any time of day. We are already seeing more smiles, more thoughtful actions, and more children looking out for one another. As such, we have an abundance of axolotl stickers swimming through our school!
