Election for Parent Governor

Would you like to play a vital role in the running of our school? Would you like to be part of a team who are responsible for ensuring that the school delivers high quality education?

We currently have a vacancy for a Parent Governor. As a parent of a child at Shakespeare Primary School and Nursery, you are entitled to stand as a candidate and also vote in any election.

Being a Parent Governor is a voluntary role and is not paid. You do not require any special qualifications or experience, other than a commitment to the school and some time to spare to attend meetings.  The bringing together of Governors from a wide range of interest groups in itself provides a wide range of skills that can benefit the school.  Governors meetings take place once per half term (six in a year).

If you would like some more information before deciding whether to stand, please visit the school website, www.shakespeareleeds.org.uk and go to ‘Our Governors’ section, which can be found in the ‘About our School’ section.

Alternatively, please contact our Head Teacher, Mr Julian Gorton via the school office.

Parent Governors serve a four-year term of office irrespective of whether their child leaves the school during the term of office.  (Parent Governors may, of course, resign at any time during their term of office).

If you wish to offer yourself as a candidate to become a Parent Governor, a nomination form can be collected from the school office or here. Should you require assistance in completing the nomination form, please do not hesitate to speak to us.

The deadline for nominations is Monday 22 May at 9am.
