The Great Allotment Skip Appeal
Our Year 5 children recently enjoyed one of their much-loved visits to the local allotment, a tradition that has been growing for many years. We are incredibly grateful to the warm, knowledgeable adults who give their time to welcome our children and share their expertise… completely free of charge!
This year, children learned that the allotment is in need of a skip to help clear the site, keep it safe and make sure it can continue to grow and thrive. However, they don’t have the funds. The visit inspired us to think about how we could use our Voice and Influence, our Golden Theme for this half term, to make a difference.
Our Communication Team set the school a challenge: can you write a letter asking a local skip company if they would be willing to help? We will collect the children's letters and send them on, putting our words into action and seeing what influence we can have.
We are incredibly proud of our children for spotting an opportunity to make a difference and for using their voices to help a valued part of our local community. Now, we wait to see what happens… watch this space!
