World Book Day March 2nd 2023
World Book Day 2023 began with an exuberant assembly presented by Mrs Fox and the Y6 Reading Ambassadors. The theme was ‘Being Different’ and we celebrated our differences by sharing examples of books featuring characters who are different such as ‘Wonder’ by R J Palacio and ‘Shine’ by Sarah Asuquo. Mrs Fox read the story of Gerald the giraffe in ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’ by Giles Andreae and we celebrated people who are famous for being different. The assembly ended with the usual, uplifting sing-along.
This year, children (and teachers) were asked to dress up as a word as part of a Vocabulary Parade. Shakespeare really pushed the boat out and imaginations ran riot. Prizes were given for the most ingenious.
