Y6 Explore The Leeds Art Scene

This week, Year 6 enjoyed an exciting art-themed trip into the city. Their day began with a walk through the city centre, following a trail of impressive street art. The children loved spotting different murals and sculptures through their viewfinders and appreciated how much creativity surrounds us locally.

They then visited the Leeds Art Gallery and the Henry Moore Institute, where they explored artwork by a wide range of artists from different periods and places. Pupils sketched pieces that inspired them, taking time to notice details and techniques.

A highlight of the visit was the interactive exhibition at the Henry Moore Institute, where pupils were thrilled to be allowed to touch some of the sculptures—an unusual and memorable experience. They also worked in groups to create their own sculptures out of scrap materials. To end the day, each pupil was kindly gifted a ceramic biscuit as a souvenir of their artistic adventure.

Year 6 returned to school full of enthusiasm after a brilliant creative day out.
