A Wonderful Start to the New School Year

We have had a fantastic first week back at Shakespeare Primary School, and it has been a pleasure to see the school full of energy, positivity and a real sense of purpose as we begin the new academic year together.

A huge thank you to all of our families who attended one of the seven Meet the Teacher sessions this week. It was brilliant to welcome over 50 parents to each session - we really value the opportunity to build these strong home–school partnerships from the very start of the year.

We would also like to thank parents and carers for ensuring children have returned to school looking so smart and ready to learn. It has been great to see such high standards, with children wearing the correct uniform, including black shoes or trainers.

This week, children in Years 2 to 6 came together for our first assembly of the year. During this special time, we shared the beautiful book The Grand Hotel of Feelings, exploring how we all experience a wide range of emotions and how important it is to understand and manage them.

This assembly also marked the launch of our new PSHE curriculum, My Happy Mind. This exciting programme will support children in developing positive mental health, resilience and emotional awareness. We are really looking forward to sharing more about this with you over the coming weeks.

Looking ahead, we have another exciting week planned. Year 5 will be heading out on a visit to the local allotments to support their learning, and we are delighted to be welcoming back our Chess tutors. In addition, the Leeds Discovery Centre will be visiting school to deliver an engaging workshop on the Stone Age to Iron Age.

Thank you again for your continued support - it has been a brilliant start, and we are excited for the term ahead.
