Home Learning Reception
Children in Reception bring home 2 books each week
- A Phonics book sent home on a Friday, collected back in on a Thursday that children should read and reread independently aloud to an adult everyday
- A Story book is also sent home on a Friday, collected back in on a Thursday. This is a book to share together. This is for your child to enjoy being read to them by a parent or older sibling
HOMEWORK Vocabulary
Children in Reception have a Word Mat with key vocabulary sent home every Monday. This is for the children to practise using the words at home.
HOMEWORK Tapestry Challenge
Children in Reception have a Tapestry Challenge sent home every Friday. This is an activity for the children to do at home which focuses on their physical development and/or being active.
Home Learning Year 1
Children in Year One bring home 2 books each week
- A Phonics book sent home on a Monday, collected back in on a Friday that children should read and reread independently aloud to an adult everyday
- A Story book sent home on a Friday, collected back in on a Thursday. This is a book to share together. Your child might not be able to read this independently but will enjoy it being read to them by a parent or older sibling
SPELLINGS
Up to 6 spellings are sent home each week on a Monday to be learnt and tested on a Friday
HOMEWORK
Written homework is sent home every other Monday and collected in on a Friday. In addition, there are lots of year group specific learning tasks on the ‘pupil zone’ section of our website.
Home Learning Year 2
READING
Children in Year Two bring home 2 books each week
- A Phonics or Fluency book sent home on a Monday, collected back in on a Friday that children should read and reread independently aloud to an adult everyday
- A Story book sent home on a Friday, collected back in on a Thursday. This is a book to share together. Your child might not be able to read this independently but will enjoy it being read to them by a parent or older sibling
SPELLINGS
Up to 10 spellings are sent home each week on a Monday to be learnt and tested on a Friday
HOMEWORK
Written homework is sent home every other Monday and collected in on a Friday. On the alternate weeks children should spend 15 minutes on 'Hit the Button' at the start of the year, focusing on number bonds to 10 and 20. Children can progress onto Times Table Rock Stars from the Spring 2 half term. In addition, there are lots of year group specific learning tasks on the ‘pupil zone’ section of our website.
Home Learning Year 3 and 4
READING
Children in Year Three/Four bring home 1 book home that is changed once a week: A home reading book to be read aloud or independently with an adult and recorded in their read and respond.
SPELLINGS

READING
Children in Year 5 bring home up to 2 books home each week: A home reading book, matched to their reading ability, to be read aloud to an adult or independently and recorded in their read and respond. This book will be changed once a week or at a child’s request. The second book is a class text which is used as a basis for English lessons and chapters may be given to read at home over the weekend.

HOMEWORK
In Year 6, children have access to Century Learning, an online education platform where they can revise Reading, Grammar and Maths at home. Each Thursday, children will be set an assignment on Century to complete for the following Tuesday. This is a fantastic tool to support your children with their learning at home.
